An example of fascism

This shows who is in control of the government. These are the people that should be targeted instead of the immigrants. If corporations are fined if they hire illegal immigrants, the problem would be solved.

In a 22-page ruling, Breyer said the plaintiffs—an unusual coalition that included the AFL-CIO, the American Civil Liberties Union and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce—had raised serious questions about the legality of the administration’s plan to mail Social Security "no-match" letters to 140,000 U.S. employers.

Washington launches war on immigrants: thousands grabbed in nationwide raids

Filed under: National Politics, Immigration - Cynthia @ 3:33 pm

In a brutal escalation of its vindictive policy towards immigrant workers, the Bush administration has launched a series of raids on homes and workplaces across the country, rounding up thousands for deportation.

I guess the Republicans are trying to appeal to their main constituents at the expense of everybody else.

The Framing of Immigration

Filed under: National Politics, Immigration - Cynthia @ 7:55 am

In the future, we all should be mindful of how we formulate and articulate our thoughts about the immigration debate.  The real issues are being hidden.  We all should ask ourselves - is globalization working?  If it is, why do we have so many people fleeing their respective countries for greener pastures?  What of NAFTA, CAFTA, WTO, IMF, etc.? And now they have the nerves to be propose yet another agreement, OFTA?  Why aren’t these tools of globalization improving the lives of people so that they will not have to flee their own country to come to another country to be misused and abused?  The whole thing is quite sad if it is framed properly…

Framing is at the center of the recent immigration debate and the linguistic expressions are anything but neutral.

Immigration Detention Camps

Filed under: National Politics, Immigration - Cynthia @ 5:54 pm

The Church Secretary has a post called "Tuesday Tribulation" that briefly mention the fact that Halliburton has received a $385 million contract to build mass detention centers to be used in the event of an "immigration emergency".

Something instinctively told me that there was more to this story. Ironically, Halliburton was awarded this contract in February before the immigration protests. I’ve always thought that this was a bad move on the immigrant’s part because it exposed them. After all, they are here illegally and technically speaking, they are breaking the laws. So, the big question is – why are these camps needed?

A more detailed analysis can be read here.

Two interesting things I read over the weekend…

Filed under: Racism in America, Immigration - Cynthia @ 1:36 pm

1. Mossad murdered 530 Iraqi scientists - this is the Israeli version of the CIA

Numerous reports for many months have stated that with collaboration from American occupation forces, Israel’s espionage apparatus, Mossad, slaughtered at least 530 Iraqi scientists and academic professors.

2. Tennessee has become a battleground for the immigration debate.

I learned that from 1990 – 2000, Tennessee’s Hispanic population grew by 278 percent, from 32,741 to 123,838. The state ranked sixth in the growth of foreign-born residents with a 168 percent increase that also included Asians, Africans and other nationalities. Nashville also boasts the nation’s largest Kurdish population and served as a regional voting center in the Iraqi elections.

Things have gotten really dangerous in Tennessee…

In November 2005, a former Ku Klux Klan member, Daniel Schertz, was sentenced to 14 years in prison for building pipe bombs to kill Hispanic immigrants.

Next, in May 2005, vandals scrawled Nazi graffiti on the La Lupita Mexican store in Maryville, Tenn.

Overall, I’m not surprised at the racial hatred directed at the Hispanics since I expected this would occur. I also thought the attention the Hispanic population was getting would diffuse some of the racial tension away from the Black population and allow us to breathe for a second or two.

Illegal immigrants rounded up in OH

Filed under: Immigration - Cynthia @ 6:50 pm

This happened yesterday but I wonder what’s up? Could this round-up be about Bush’s approval rating being at an all time low (~31%) and they are panicking because things are really worst than we think?

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 80 people

Police took four supervisors and 76 undocumented workers into custody Tuesday in connection with a two-year investigation of Fischer Homes. The 76 suspected workers were picked up from at least three construction sites in Hebron, Union and Florence, officials with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said.

Each of the supervisors are facing a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.

If this is the beginning of a trend, then - the little illegal alien problem in America will immediately cease. You really have to admit, this is an interesting development in this little saga. Talking about a slap in the face. You know, I could have told them they couldn’t trust this government…

Bushite Neo-Cons Responsible For May Day Immigration Protests

Filed under: National Politics, Immigration - Cynthia @ 12:38 pm

This is interesting. I’ve always believed that there were powerful individuals behind this whole immigration saga, but – is this plausible? I wonder how much truth is in these claims, if any. Is anyone surprised by these accusations?

I was told by some Puerto Ricans that they are upset with Gutierrez because he only cares about Mexicans. I also heard many Mexicans say they are not with this whole illegal immigrant movement. And this site shows that many Hispanics are indeed unhappy and not a unified front like many of us were led to believe.

Inquiring minds would like to know, how do you separate facts from fictions in a world of lies? This phrase comes to mind " Oh what a tangled web we weave when frist we practive to decieve".

A recurrent thought…

Filed under: Immigration - Cynthia @ 7:42 pm

I was reading a discussion about immigration and this question came up:

Why no fuss about our border to the north? Is it because they can blend (kind of like indentured servants back in the day)?

I don’t think you can compare Canada with Mexico because Canada is a 1st world country. If you look at the information from the World Fact Book one can clearly see why illegal immigrants from Canada is not an issue and certainly, the two countries should not be compared.

Does anyone really think Canadians are coming here in droves illegally? For what reason?
