Is this an amazing American story?

What are the chances?

Cheney & Obama are distant cousins. Don’t they look alike?

The VP’s wife, Lynne Cheney said she discovered that her husband of 43 years is eighth cousins with the senator from Illinois. The common ancestor was Mareen Devall, who the Chicago Sun-Times said was a 17th century immigrant from France. Mrs. Cheney said she discovered the link through family research for her new book, "Blue Skies, No Fences," about growing up in Wyoming.

Theology has no place in a university

Filed under: Miscellaneous, Humor, Religion - Cynthia @ 7:52 pm

I couldn’t agree more.

Richard Dawkins

We who doubt that "theology" is a subject at all, or who compare it with the study of leprechauns, are eagerly hoping to be proved wrong. Of course, university departments of theology house many excellent scholars of history, linguistics, literature, ecclesiastical art and music, archaeology, psychology, anthropology, sociology, iconology, and other worthwhile and important subjects. These academics would be welcomed into appropriate departments elsewhere in the university. But as for theology itself, defined as "the organised body of knowledge dealing with the nature, attributes, and governance of God", a positive case now needs to be made that it has any real content at all, and that it has any place in today’s universities.

Things that are amusing

Filed under: Humor - Cynthia @ 4:17 pm

I was over at AlterNet and saw the following:

1. Tom Delay started a blog, initially with unmoderated comments. After a rash of harsh and unflatering comments, Delay removed and turned on comment moderation. However, not before all the comments were saved and archived here.

2. Another closeted homosexual running a megachurche is ousted. This is amusing only because of the irony of it all. Those who protest the loudest has the most to hide. If sin hadn’t been reduced to sexual activity, no one would even care.

The Kramer

Filed under: Racism in America, Humor - Cynthia @ 8:07 pm

I received this email from a friend.

Let’s help Jesse Jackson out. With the recent events of Michael Richards screaming out the N-word at some brothers at a comedy show. And Rev. Jackson pushing that the N-word not be used in TV, radio, music, etc. I have come up with a solution that will solve this problem forever. I call it the “Kramer”! Instead of using the derogatory N-word use Kramer instead. This way the N-word is no longer used and the dummy that thought he could get away with it saying it will now be remembered forever. So let’s look at how the new terminology can be used.

  1. What up Kramer!
  2. Kramer please!
  3. What that Kramer up to?
  4. Who is that Kramer?
  5. That Kramer is crazy!
  6. You dumb azz Kramer!
  7. Shut up Kramer.

Now with those being very good examples of the new N-word this should make Rev. Jackson and others happy. And also putting away a very nasty word, which has plagued our lives for many years. So please pass this along to everyone you know so that we can start using this ASAP and follow the new “Say No to Nier” campaign.

P.S. One loophole – white people still can’t use the Kramer word

Constant Orgasms

Filed under: Health, Humor - Cynthia @ 2:51 pm

Growing numbers of Japanese women are afflicted with an illness that gives them orgasms virtually 24 hours a day. And with suggestions that it could be deadly, the women hardly know whether they’re coming or going.
