Chemicals in Teething Rings

Phthalates are feminizing boys

Phthalates are chemical substances that make PVC plastic soft and flexible. They are widely used in products such as food wrappings, vinyl shower curtains, and cosmetics. They are also used in soft plastic toys and other baby products, such as teething rings and rattles. Phthalates can leach out of plastic over time.

A recent study looked at phthalate levels in the urine of 85 pregnant women, then studied the genital development of their babies. The boys from the most highly exposed mothers were ten times more likely to have impaired genital development than boys from the least exposed mothers.

Medical Apartheid: The Dark History Of Medical Experimentation On Black Americans From Colonial Times To The Present

Filed under: Racism in America, Health - Cynthia @ 4:38 pm

By Harriet Washington…

Please check out this Book TV [Cpan2) video, it is very enlightening. If you don’t have her book, you should really consider purchasing it. These are things that all Black people should know and pass on to future generations.

Journalist and medical ethicist Harriet Washington details medical research on African Americans from colonial times to the 20th century. She describes the "Tuskegee Syphilis Study" that began in 1932 and was conducted by the U.S. Public Health Service. Almost 400 African American men were withheld treatment for syphilis to study how the disease would affect them in its late stages. The author contends that this is just one of several experiments that shaped the way in which African Americans relate to today’s medical industry.

Katrina victims in the news…

Filed under: National Politics, Racism in America, Health - Cynthia @ 9:55 am

This government has failed its people…

94% of FEMA trailers for Katrina victims contain hazardous levels of formaldehyde.

Trailers with floors and cabinets built with particle board containing the chemical formaldehyde. Under hot, humid conditions, formaldehyde lets off toxic fumes, especially harmful to young lungs.

To fix the problem, FEMA recommends that people should open their windows and turn on the air conditioner. I bet most of these people don’t even have enough money to buy an air conditioner, as if that would fix the problem.

Cardboard in food

Filed under: Health - Cynthia @ 4:52 pm

Can we really trust food products coming from China? First, it was the tainted dog food, now it is cardboard soaked to a pulp in caustic soda, then chopped into morsels, a little fatty pork and seasoning stirred in (I guess for good measure), and the mix stuffed into buns. What were these people thinking? I wonder what will be next?

Racial discrimination tied to breast cancer risk

Filed under: Racism in America, Health - Cynthia @ 10:35 am

I didn’t need a study to tell met this: Black women who feel they’ve been victims of racial discrimination are more likely than their peers to develop breast cancer, a large study suggests. This money could have been used to equalized things in America if people really cared!

Things are not always what they seem..

Filed under: National Politics, Racism in America, Health - Cynthia @ 9:32 am

We are being attacked on so many fronts that most of us can’t even identify the attacks as they occur. I’m not surprised that this society is continuing its ongoing assault on Black people, but I’m surprised about the number of Black people who are unwittingly accepting this assault and those who are assisting with the assault. Either the attacks have become more sophisticated or we have become less sophisticated in our ability to discern the intentions of the attackers. More than likely it is a combination of both.
