Cynthia’s Interests

This should serve as a lesson

To The CBC:

William Jefferson of Louisiana is indicted.

The indictment handed up in federal court in Alexandria, VA, Monday is 94 pages long and lists 16 alleged violations of federal law that could keep Jefferson in prison for up to 235 years. He is charged with racketeering, soliciting bribes, wire fraud, money-laundering, obstruction of justice, conspiracy and violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

In days of old, the one thing that the CBC had in its favor was it honesty, integrity, and unity. One by one, they will see, they will be picked off. Who will be next? Hopefully, it will be those two fools from Georgia (David Scott & Sanford Bishop), then Albert Wynn of MD and Artur Davis of AL.

Is Hip Hop dying?

Filed under: Racism in America, State of Black America - Cynthia @ 7:15 pm

I certainly hope so!

Real Facts about Hip Hop, the Music Industry & Black Folks
By Pearl Jr.

Here are the facts (billboard.com):
  1. In the first quarter of 2007, hip-hop sales are down 33.6% from same quarter of last year
  2. Hip-hop sales are down 21% from 2005 to 2006
  3. In 2006, only two hip-hop artists attained platinum status (T.I. & Jay Z)
  4. Hip Hop artists have the highest incarceration rates of any musical genre’s artists list
  5. This week (4-17-07), due to the massive media exposure of the Don Imus racist remarks, every single album released before last week (despite the genre), has declined in sales among the top 50 selling albums. Average drop of nearly 50%
  6. The music industry is suffering from massive losses beginning in the early millennium, when Black executives/executive producers were being dropped like flies and the ownership and distribution of music was conglomerated by non-Black ownership.
  7. Digital downloads is NOT making up the difference (15% digital – 85% CD = marketshare)
  8. Despite massive declines in CD sales, radio spins of negative hip-hop (rap cr*p) remained in high rotation
  9. The ONLY music genre to gain for the first quarter of 2007 is R&B, which is non-inclusive of hip-hop and that is only 1%.

Dr. Ray Hagin

Filed under: Racism in America, State of Black America, Religion, Ray Hagin - Cynthia @ 8:38 am

I met Dr. Hagin on Friday. It is refreshing to see that there are a growing number of Black people including Pastor Ray Hagin who do not think we should believe the propaganda of others. He believes we can’t solve our problems using other people’s propaganda (religion). Black people only believe in Christianity today because the slave masters forced it upon us. It was forced upon us because religion accomplishes three things (only)...

  1. It establishes the cultural and racial superiority of the people who created it
  2. It perpetuates and improves upon the intended agenda (to control its unfortunate victims)

The Democrats in Illinois and Jesse Jackson pulled a fast one.  Starting in January, IL Senate approved a rate hike that could increase our electric bill by as much as 50%.

According to Carl Nyberg, who spoke to Senator Don Harmon about a rate hike that Commonwealth Edison was proposing wouldn’t pass in the IL Senate.  With that said, there was a dispute over the timing the rate hike would be voted down. The President, Senate Emil Jones wanted to postpone the vote after the election because he didn’t want the measure to help vulnerable Senate Republicans while the House Speaker, Michael Madigan wanted the hike to be voted down before the November general election since he thought this would help vulnerable House Democrats.

Adding insults to injury, this measure was also spearheaded with the assistance of our illustrious Jesse Jackson and I’m told other Black ministers in Illinois.  WVON aired a misleading commercial featuring Jesse Jackson.  He said the rate hike was a good thing otherwise what happened in California with the rolling blackouts that we all know were caused by Enron manipulation of the power market to increase their profits were in fact caused by politicians interfering with the power market’s ability to set a rate that is conducive for them to operate the facility at its full capacity.  Therefore, he warned - if a rate hike didn’t occur, Illinoisans would experience those same blackouts.

I wonder how much Jesse Jackson received in corporate kickbacks to perpetuate a commercial that was an outright lie.  Surely, a man of his standing is fully knowledgeable of the events surrounding Enron and how they arranged to take plants offline.

This proves a couple of things about the self-imposed Black leaders, including many ministers, they are either 1) extremely naive (I’m being nice) or 2) extremely corrupt – they can easily be bought.  Either way, these people went against the interests of the very people they have pledged to serve.  What of morality?  What of common sense?

Voting by RACE

Filed under: National Politics, Racism in America, State of Black America - Cynthia @ 10:45 am

These polls speak volumes about the psyche of America. Even with all the scandals and theft, the majority of white America still voted for the Republican Party, which is anti-everything that is not rich or white. It is interesting to note, Black Americans are the only group that voted as a cohesive block for the Democrats. I guess if the Republicans were a bit more Black friendly, they clearly could have won this election. No wonder there’s a constant campaign by the Republican Party to disenfranchise the Black community through outright voter theft, voter intimidation, and/or gerrymandering entire districts to dilute the effects of the Black vote. If the Republicans hadn’t previously gerrymandered (stacked the deck) certain districts, their losses in this election would have been greater since congressional redistricting has become an effective tool to rig elections. As a group, I would have to say, Black Americans are the Republican worst nightmare. However, if the current trend continues, the Black voice will be permanently silenced.

Breakdown of exit polls by RACE

White (79%) – 47% voted D, 51% voted R

Black (10%) – 89% voted D, 10% voted R

Latino (8%) – 69% voted D, 30% voted R

Asian (2%) – 62% voted D, 37% voted R

Other (2%) – 55% voted D, 42% voted R

Harold Ford Jr

I don’t have anything good to say about Harold Ford Jr and it serves him right that the GOP is running ads that are playing on racial stereotypes. This man is part of that Blue Dog Democrat Coalition (wannabe Republicans). This man is so busy trying to crossover; he is absolutely no earthly good to Black people. Even the NAACP who thinks the ads are racist, gave Ford a "C" for his interest, in this case, lack thereof in Black politics. The Congressional Black Caucus Monitor gave him an "F".

James seems to think the people are not buying these racist ads. Although these ads were pulled, I bet they will have the desired outcome for which they were intended. Afterall, we are talking about people who live in the bible belt. People are more polite and they don’t want others to know they are openly racist, therefore, the polls are more than likely not accurate.

Time will tell.

CBC Report Card

Filed under: National Politics, State of Black America - Cynthia @ 12:15 am

This is a fantastic report card. What better way to judge Black lawmakers but by their records…

Leutisha Stills and her Congressional Black Caucus Monitor colleagues put out a  Report Card twice a year on the CBC. They are the only Black organization that monitors Black lawmakers on a values-scale based on Black people’s politics. You guys should really check out the scores.

One thing for sure, Georgia already has two of their Black lawmakers who are on the take and now they have gained a third one. They’re losing a winner and gaining a looser. Yikes…

A Congress.org report also agrees with the CBC report. Their report ranked Cynthia McKinney the highest of all Georgia Democrats in Legislative Effectiveness (I’m highlighting this for those who don’t understand what they read). McKinney explains what the ranking means HERE. I’m still amazed that Georgia would keep Black legislatures that are ineffective and trade in one that is effective. Something is seriously wrong down there…

Can you believe the majority of the CBC

Filed under: National Politics, State of Black America - Cynthia @ 7:30 am

Wouldn’t back Cynthia McKinney but had the nerves to stand behind William Jefferson when Pelosi asked him to resign from the ways and means committee. This man was caught in an FBI sting. For God’s sake, he had $90,000 in his freezer.

Last year on my old blog, I talked about a crack in the CBC here and here. Part of this crack included William Jefferson.

Last year the CBC became the victim of an unprecedented rightwing money and media offensive. Six members made up a core of defectors that deviated from the CBC’s proud 36-year progressive tradition. Those members are - Harold Ford, Jr. (TN), Artur Davis (AL), David Scott (GA), Sanford Bishop (GA), Albert Wynn (MD), and William Jefferson (LA).

If you want to see how wide this crack has become, all you have to do is follow the money trail.

It’s time for the CBC to clean house. None of this would have occurred if Jefferson and others hadn’t deviated from the CBC’s tradition. Maybe this will be a lesson to the other knuckleheads, united you will be victorious, but divided you will be picked off one by one.

I wonder why Bush ordered the documents seized from Jefferson’s house to be sealed for 45 days?

Exciting news…

Black Lawmakers in Illinois helped pass a law that is guaranteed to kill all African Americans who are suckered in.  Go Kimberly Lightford.  Can you believe I played African drums at this woman’s wedding?  Anyway, because of this new law, an organization called BASUAH (brothers and sisters united against HIV/AIDS) was formed.  Why don’t the government just shoot all of us right now and be done with it, at least this is more humane. I hate this slow death that has been ascribed to us. I’m convinced something is seriously wrong mentally with Black people and I’m almost convinced we deserved to be culled.

I bet if you went to any hospitals in the Black community, you will discover those who have been diagnosed with this alleged HIV, you will find they are all drug addicts that have hepatitis. Instead of being treated for a treatable disease (hepatitis), they are being treated for an untreatable disease (HIV).

So, all ya’ll good ole little useless darkies go get your AIDS test ya here, and don’t forgit – bring yo friend tu, da world don’t need or want ya…

With all of this campaigning, no one ever bothered to talk to any Black Scientists…
