94% of FEMA trailers for Katrina victims contain hazardous levels of formaldehyde.
Trailers with floors and cabinets built with particle board containing the chemical formaldehyde. Under hot, humid conditions, formaldehyde lets off toxic fumes, especially harmful to young lungs.
To fix the problem, FEMA recommends that people should open their windows and turn on the air conditioner. I bet most of these people don’t even have enough money to buy an air conditioner, as if that would fix the problem.
