Bush Shafts Enron Victims

Filed under: National Politics - Cynthia @ 11:15 am

This experiment in Republican leadership has utterly failed. I wonder how many of the shafted Enron employees voted these people in office. I wonder how far this country has to sink into the abyss before people realize they are drowning.

Wall Street’s investment banks just got another one step closer to making defrauding investors an accepted line of business. And Enron’s employees who lost their pensions and the small investors who got fleeced in the Enron frauds just got shafted again—this time at the urging of President George W. Bush.

Wall Street’s most powerful investment banks and their friends in high places lobbied the U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement to reject the recommendation of the Securities and Exchange Commission that the Justice Department support defrauded investors in their appeal to the Supreme Court.

  1. “Wall Street’s investment banks just got another one step closer to making defrauding investors an accepted line of business.”

The anti-thesis is, there will be no more investors. Who in their right mind will invest without protection. It makes one wonder if that is the goal, or if they are living in the now so much that they cannot think of the potential outcome.

Bush only cares about his pockets.

I wonder how many of those people voted and still support Bush as well.

  2. Hello, Cynthia and Kitty.

Our government’s domestic economic policy serves primarily to maintain the upward flow of capital. As long as the rabble have Wal-Mart and relatively cheap gas for their oversized vehicles, it is expected that they will remain docile enough to allow business as usual to continue. The difference between the Dems and the Rethugs under Bush is that the former usually act as though they are aware that they can only go so far. The Rethugs seem to believe that they can poison the whole ocean and still keep their favored big fish alive.

Suicidial politics: get used to it; it’s going to get a lot worse very soon.

  3. I had a comment, but I don’t think that it can be more concise or more accurate than Church Secretary’s response.

  5. Bush may as well shaft Enron victims since he has shafted everyone he comes in contact with.
