On Don Imus
I heard that Don Imus made those racially charged remarks about the Rutgers women’s basketball team because he wanted to break his contract with CBS so that he could work with his former co-worker, Howard Stern, who joined Sirius Satellite Radio last year. This incidence gave him the opportunity to accomplish that goal. If this is true, one has to wonder how much money he will be making on his new job since the original 5 year contract was for 8 or $10 million a year depending on which article you read.
Again, if this is true, this should serve as a lesson to those who are so quick to judge a situation. If you allow your opponents to know which buttons to push to get you all revved up, if you are not careful, you will be used in the process and then tossed aside.

That makes sense as he had to know this would cause a ruckus. I have never heard his show, but my understanding is that he says alot of outrageous things.
As much as radio talk show hosts like to give the listeners the impression that they are “speaking freely”, they are very much controlled by the network and even the seemingly “from the hip” comments and stunts are planned and acted out according to standards.
I have a friend in radio who explained this to me and it turned me off to the FM radio talk shows altogether and I am wary of anyone who collects a pay check but claims to be independent.

Wow, it actually does make sense, since he will not have to worry about the sponsorship that dropped him…
BTW - Great last few posts.
