If you don’t watch Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO - you should check out the video of his latest show.
Excerpt: What could be less patriotic than constantly screwing things up for America? You know, it’s literally hard to keep up with the sheer volume of scandals in the Bush administration.

Hmmm… interesting point. So true patriotism is doing what is best for America ALWAYS. I didn’t watch the vid because I can’t stand Bill Maher, but GreyGhost has an article about patriotism and he brought up the concept of “Traitor” as well. With the 2 party system and people’s ideas about what is good for America differing so greatly, I think it is hard to determine who is patriotic absolutely or who is truly a traitor (although it doesn’t keep folks from throwing the term around).
I find it particularly interesting that party hard liners will call anyone a traitor who even appears to question or disagree with the official stance of their party. To me this is plain old close-mindedness and an attempt to suppress free thinking.
