Chicago is excited about Jennifer Hudson

Illinois Governor announced today is Jennifer Hudson Day! She is on the front page of the Chicago Sun-Times & Tribune.

Jennifer Hudson poses with the Oscar she won for best supporting actress for her work in "Dreamgirls" at the 79th Academy Awards on Sunday

Ellen DeGeneres was simply delightful.

The Best actor was Forest Whitaker. If you saw "The Last King of Scotland", you will see why he won the award. The man was convincing as Idi Amin.

Best actress: Helen Mirren, "The Queen" – I haven’t seen the movie, but this makes me want to see it.

Best supporting actor: Alan Arkin, "Little Miss Sunshine" (Eddie Murphy should have won). This is hidden racism.

The best supporting actress: Jennifer Hudson, "Dreamgirls" – Outstanding performance.

The best documentary: "An Inconvenient Truth" – I liked this documentary, but I really think Spike Lee should have won this category for "When The Levees Broke". He didn’t even get an honorable mention. What a shame. Again, this is Hollywood’s hidden racism.

The best director: Martin Scorsese, "The Departed" – This should have happened several years ago.

The best picture: "The Departed" – The ending was wacked. If someone had told me that all the main characters died and some stupidly, I wouldn’t have wasted my time on this picture.

Hidden Racism in Hollywood

I watched the Academy Awards last night. First, I would like to say, hooray for Jennifer Hudson. Boohoo for Eddie Murphy, he was robbed.

It is interesting to note that when each person won the award for the best in their category the cameras went immediately to the reaction of their spouse/mate or family/friends. When Jennifer Hudson won the award for Supporting Actress, the camera did not acknowledge those that were with her.

When Jennifer changed for "The Dream Girls" on-stage performance, she was really wearing that dress. I’m jealous!

Was it me, didn’t Jennifer Hudson make Beyonce sing better? Beyonce should remake that song (Listen) and sing it the way she sang last night. Right now, it’s so drab. If you saw the movie, you will agree that Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson performances were far superior to that of Jamie Fox and Beyonce Knowles. Right now, it is clear that Jennifer Hudson is the best young vocalist out there. Judge for yourself. Here is a MP3 list of their songs.

I’ve accomplished a milestone.

I have just completed all of my experiments. My advisor is happy with my results. All that is left for me to do is write my thesis, which is almost complete. I have to do minor revisions on one chapter and include another. Tonight, I will go out and celebrate.

I thought I had become a fixture here. A word of advice, if you do a PhD in Science, do not and I repeat, do not change labs in the middle of your third year.

Will you vote on Obama in the primaries

Honor Killings

Filed under: Religion - Cynthia @ 4:49 pm

This shows how unreasonable beliefs can be. Knowledge is more substantial. To know is better than to believe. Some religions should be moderated and this is a perfect example of why. Ladies beware, this is normal in some circles. This man is exposing the barbaric behavior that is a central tenet of Islam.

A Turkish immigrant in Scottsville, New York has been charged with the murder of his wife. He claims that his actions were taken as a matter of “honor.” Why? He attacked his wife and 22-year-old daughter after learning that they had been molested by the man’s brother. He tried to kill his four-year-old daughter because she had been “sullied” by a gynecological exam.

In Chicago, a man killed his family because he felt "disrespected". Fifty-five-year-old Daryoush Ebrahimi (dar-roo"-sh ay bra-HE’ me) is being held without bond on charges of first degree murder after police say he bludgeoned his family over the weekend.
