The Framing of Immigration

Filed under: National Politics, Immigration - Cynthia @ 7:55 am

In the future, we all should be mindful of how we formulate and articulate our thoughts about the immigration debate.  The real issues are being hidden.  We all should ask ourselves - is globalization working?  If it is, why do we have so many people fleeing their respective countries for greener pastures?  What of NAFTA, CAFTA, WTO, IMF, etc.? And now they have the nerves to be propose yet another agreement, OFTA?  Why aren’t these tools of globalization improving the lives of people so that they will not have to flee their own country to come to another country to be misused and abused?  The whole thing is quite sad if it is framed properly…

Framing is at the center of the recent immigration debate and the linguistic expressions are anything but neutral.
