Racism and the Duke University Rape Case
Diane S. wrote one of the most interesting and balanced piece on the Duke University rape case and below is just a small excerpt (maybe not even as significant as the rest of what she said).
I have a close friend who was a stripper and a hooker when she was younger. A long time ago, she told me that the tricks (or Johns or Marks) you worried about were never the black guys, the bikers, the so-called “shady” characters. The tricks you worried about were the middle class white guys; the whiter, the more middle (or upper) class, the more you worried. Especially if they were married, had children, and drove an SUV. Why? Because these men hate prostitutes and dancers.. They hated what them because of what these women represented to them about the truth of themselves.
I was at a bachelor party and witnessed a guy try so hard to talk one of the girls into having sex with him.
At the end of the night when he got the final “no” he was completely uncivil. He was insulting her really loudly as she walked away.
Getting rejected by a whore makes some guys feel really snubbed. Add some booze, sense of entitlement and underlying anger and it’s a combustible mix.

Yeah, blame men for making the choice to sell your body for money Accept no responsibility for your actions, degrade yourself and women in general while risking getting all sorts of diseases, much less physical harm to your person….do all of this and who knows?
I expected you to say this. Especially since you ALWAYS act like one of those Black Conservatives who don’t like Black people.
Maybe Jesse Jackson will come out and grant you a scholarship too.
I’m completing a PhD in science and I don’t need Jesse Jackson help. However, are you jealous that he didn’t give you any money? You would think a person would be happy that this woman is receiving this money since it would allow her to stay out of harms way. But, in your hate, heavens forbid something good and decent happen for this poor unfortunate woman. Using James’ phrase, I’m really beginning to think more and more that you are a spawn of “Satan” your father.

@ Grey Ghost: Are you implying that prostitutes and strippers deserve to be raped because they make the choice to sell their bodies?

I am mad that no one responded to Mr. Nyberg! Just because she is a stripper, she has to be a whore?!
I didn’t respond to Carl’s comment because the excerpt that I extracted from Diane S. was talking about someone who was a prostitute in addition to being a stripper. Although no one said the Black woman was a whore, this is not the first time people have said this. I guess the two go hand in hand in peoples mind and I don’t want to defend that either because I don’t know and I don’t care if she is or was a prostitute, that is her life. The point is – regardless of what she did for a living, no one has a right to rape her. I think Carl was ultimately trying to back up the assertion what Diane’s friend was saying, there is something to the whole white middle class male syndrome of participating in this type of abuse and at the same time, they are somehow repulsed by it. But, it is good to see that someone cares about the integrity of this woman.
