Illegal immigrants rounded up in OH
This happened yesterday but I wonder what’s up? Could this round-up be about Bush’s approval rating being at an all time low (~31%) and they are panicking because things are really worst than we think?
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 80 people
Police took four supervisors and 76 undocumented workers into custody Tuesday in connection with a two-year investigation of Fischer Homes. The 76 suspected workers were picked up from at least three construction sites in Hebron, Union and Florence, officials with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said.
Each of the supervisors are facing a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.
If this is the beginning of a trend, then - the little illegal alien problem in America will immediately cease. You really have to admit, this is an interesting development in this little saga. Talking about a slap in the face. You know, I could have told them they couldn’t trust this government…

One can only hope that this is the beginning of something, but my guess is law enforcement will be discouraged from doing this kind of thing in the interest of protecting immigrant “civil rights”. You hit the nail on the head that if this kind of thing happened often, the illegal immigrant job market would dry right up and solve the whole problem!
It is a double-edged sword: business owners need law enforcement to keep them from the temptation that low-cost disposable workers provide, but I don’t expect police to be given the latitude to enforce this.
